You’ve taken the time to carefully select a candle so it’s important to give your candle the time and care it deserves so that you can enjoy the best possible experience.

Whether you burn your candle to lift your mood or to transport you back to a distant shore, if you provide the proper care for you candle you will be able to enjoy your chosen scent for longer.

All my scented candles are lovingly handmade to provide hours of fragrant bliss and I want to help you maintain the quality of your candle for as long as possible.

Care for your candle

• Safety first

Always try to ensure that your candle burns in a well-ventilated room, away from any drafts.

• Give yourself time to enjoy

Always make sure that you burn your candles for at least 1 to 2 hours at a time. This is especially important the first time you use your candle to make sure it has melted to the edge /sides of jar.

• Don’t burn the candle at both ends

Be sure to stop burning your candle when only about 10mm of wax remains.

Care for your wicks

• Short and straight

Make sure you trim your candle wick to 5mm after use, once the wax has set. Long, crooked wicks can create high flames, smoking or sooting, which can be unpleasant and also dangerous.

• Keep it clean

Always ensure that the wax pool of your candle is clear of any wick trimmings and and matches.  Any dirt or debris left in your candle wax may create a second wick and if this lights, it will make your candle burn much faster.

• Snuff it out

When you are finished, extinguish the flame with a snuffer or wick dipper. Once the flame is out, straighten the wick again so it’s all ready for next time you want to enjoy your candle.

• Short and sweet

Don’t leave your candle burning for too long as sometimes this can cause the wick to move, however don’t panic, if this happens, just centre the wick once you’ve extinguished the flame.
